Bodmin Railway Terms and Conditions

 

General

Whilst every effort will be made to adhere to the published timetable, all dates, times and services are subject to amendment or cancellation.

The Bodmin & Wenford Railway Plc. cannot be held responsible for any loss or inconvenience should it become necessary to alter or cancel the advertised services.

The BWR reserve the right to ask any member of the public to leave the railway, without a refund, if it is deemed necessary to do so, this includes using abusive language and unruly behaviour.

Children under the age of three travel free on our standard services.

Dogs are welcome to travel, but must travel on the floor and be kept on a lead at all times. Dogs are not allowed on certain events, Murder Mystery trains or during our Christmas opening period.

No alcohol other than that purchased on the railway, unless by prior agreement, may be consumed on our property.

Smoking is not permitted on any of our trains, at Bodmin Parkway or at Bodmin General. Electronic cigarettes or similar devices are not permitted at the same locations.

Tickets should be purchased either online in advance or at the station ticket office before boarding the train. It is an offence to travel without a ticket.

 

Late Arrivals

We advise you to check the timetable before travelling and allow preferably 30 minutes before the time of departure to park your car, purchase your tickets and board the train.

Trains are set to depart at published timetable times and cannot generally be delayed for latecomers.

No refunds will be given for missed trains.

 

Bookings

All bookings are subject to availability, varying ticket terms and conditions may apply.

You may pay over the phone or online using a credit or debit card; or you can call into the Main Office at Bodmin General to pay.

Vouchers may be available. Prior notification should usually be given to the BR of your chosen date of travel.

All payments should be made in one transaction unless a deposit has been agreed.

When booking online your confirmation will be emailed to you. Upon arrival at Bodmin General check in with the Booking Office who will issue you with your tickets and seating allocation.

If you have ordered a gift voucher this will be posted out to your chosen address.

 

Changes, Cancellations and Refunds

It may be possible to change the date and time of a ticket once it has been confirmed, depending on the type and availability.

Refunds are not usually given.  The issuing of refunds or vouchers will be at the discretion of the Business Manager.

 

Damage

Passengers may be held responsible for any damages they may cause to any part of the railway stock or premises and will be charged the full cost of repairs.

 

Group Bookings

A deposit may be required.

The client should usually inform Bodmin Railway of the anticipated group numbers and required train not less than 7 days before the date of travel.

The amount payable by the client will be calculated on the final number who actually attend.

Payment of any remaining balance is due on the day of travel and is payable at the booking office at Bodmin General, unless credit has been prearranged with Bodmin Railway before the travel date. Where credit is agreed the client should pay within 28 days of the invoice.

 

Group Bookings - Changes, Cancellations and Refunds

The deposit is not refundable, although it may be possible to transfer the booking to another date.

Full payment will be required unless 7 days’ notice of cancellation is given in writing.

 

Carers Ticket 

Carer tickets can be found amongst our other tickets. Please note ALL carers must provide a form of ID or a form of documentation to show on arrival at the booking office. Examples of ID or form of documentation can be found on our FAQ's on our website. 

 

Murder Mystery & Santa by Steam Trains

Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Seating is reserved on the Murder Mystery and Santa by Steam trains. 

Full payment for tickets must be at the time of booking. 

 

Refunds for Event Trains

All requested refunds for Event trains will incur a £5.00 admin fee if they are requested within 72 hours of the event. Refunds requested 24hours before, on the booked day of event or after the booked day of event will incur a £10.00 admin fee.

 

Santa Specials Refunds 

All requested refunds for any of the Santa Special events in December 2023 will incur a £5.00 admin fee. This will be deducted from the requested refund. Refunds requested 24hours before, on the booked day of travel or after the booked day of travel will incur a £10.00 admin fee to process the refund; similarly, this too will be deducted from the requested refund. Refunds requested three weeks after the travel date will be to the discretion of Bodmin Railway.

Santa Specials includes all events throughout December. 

Driver Experience Day Cancellation/ Refund

Cancelled bookings are subject to the following charges being made:
£75 if cancelled more than 28 days in advance of the booked course date;
£150 if cancelled between 7 and 28 days in advance of the booked course date;
The full course fee if cancelled fewer than 7 days before the booked course date.

These charges may be waived in the event of extenuating circumstances, at the discretion of the Bodmin Railway.

Whilst every effort will be made to operate our courses on the dates advertised and agreed, there may be occasions when we have to curtail or cancel a course for operational reasons. If we cancel your course, we will offer you an alternative date or a full refund of the course fee, however we are unable to reimburse travel or accommodation charges associated with a curtailed or cancelled course.

 

Late Arrivals

Trains cannot be delayed for latecomers, even if the rest of the party is already on the train.

No refunds will be given for missed trains.
